The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is one of Canada's Big Five banks, headquartered at Commerce Court in Toronto, Ontario. It was formed on 1 June 1961 through the merger of the Canadian Bank of Commerce (founded 1867 by William McMaster) and the Imperial Bank of Canada (founded 1875). CIBC offers personal and commercial banking, capital markets, private wealth management and direct financial services, employs roughly 50,000 people, and trades on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges under the ticker CM.
