Giant Eagle is a family-owned US supermarket and pharmacy chain founded in 1931, running Giant Eagle and Market District supermarkets and pharmacies across western Pennsylvania, northern Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana, with about USD 9 billion in annual sales and more than 30,000 team members. It sold its GetGo convenience store chain to Alimentation Couche-Tard in 2025, and in July 2026 Kroger agreed to acquire it for USD 1.65 billion, a deal expected to close in 2027.
