Brown University Health (formerly Lifespan, renamed October 2024) is Rhode Island's largest health system and largest private employer, headquartered in Providence. Formed in 1994, the not-for-profit system includes three Brown-affiliated teaching hospitals — Rhode Island Hospital with Hasbro Children's, The Miriam Hospital and Bradley Hospital — plus Newport Hospital, Gateway Healthcare and a large physician group. It employs about 20,000 staff, operates over 1,600 patient-care offices and reported roughly $3.5 billion in revenue for 2024. John Fernandez serves as President and CEO.
